Dear Founder/Life members – Namaskaraluthe, Results of the DFWHTS General Body Voting results:
It was a great pleasure to see you all at the General Body Meeting held on Dec 10th at the temple. I humbly request all of you to set aside our difference of opinions and work as unified team of volunteers to serve our great temple “Ekta Mandir”.
As a follow up of the discussion during the June 11, 2017 June General Body (GB) Meeting, BOT & EC formed a Constitution Review Committee (CRC) to recommend changes to the Constitution adopted in 1992. CRC was composed of five (5) members from the GB, three (3) members from BOT and three (3) from EC. CRC was chaired by the President Satyanarayana Bodla, assisted by co-chair Manesh Shah, a lawyer by profession.
In order to facilitate smooth operation of the Temple activities in the coming years, D/FW-HTS Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) held a number of meetings, and proposed few changes to the Constitution. BOT and EC approved these changes after due deliberations. They were placed on the December 10, 2017 GB Meeting agenda for approval through a voting process.
Also, EC had received five (5) separate petitions to alter the Constitution by four members. In summary the 5 petitions are as follows: 1) Quorum for General Body Meeting, 2) BOT Term of Office Limits, 3) Election Process: Petition Candidate, 4) Formation of Nomination Committee, 5) BOT – Final Arbiter.
The General Body on December 10, 2017, attended by almost two hundred Founding and Life members voted on these proposals. Here are the voting results.
- a) BOT/EC CRC recommended proposals passed with 67% cast votes. The details of resolution passed is provided below link.
- b) All other five proposals by four members placed on the agenda for voting did not pass with only thirty-three (33)% of the members votes. Each proposal needed two-thirds of votes cast for adoption.
We sincerely thank our Founding/Life members for attending the GB meeting and showing their strong support to the Temple Constitution that has served us well for the past twenty-five years. We also thank the current team of volunteers serving on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee.
